—City of Roses
From Portland’s own Esperanza Spalding’s new jazz album Radio Music Society …here’s an ode to my hometown…”City of Roses”…it’s filled with dead on references that bring back many memories…I won’t front like it’s my favorite song on the album but it reminds me of home so I love it.
Pizza is one of my favorite things to make, and it is super easy…I buy a 16 oz. bag of pizza dough from Publix…let that sit out for an hour…about 30 mins in, I’ll start prepping the toppings. Tonight I used mushrooms, asparagus, red onion, and cheese…I’m not a fan of tomatoes and therefore not a HUGE fan of tomato sauce, so I decided to go naked…
I separated the dough into three equal pieces and start rolling it out for personal pizzas…I sautéed the asparagus for about 1 min (or less)…stacked on the toppings, and threw them in the oven for about 15-18 mins…what I ended up with was a crispy, very rustic looking, tasty dinner…paired with a small salad, you can do no wrong.

The night started with Kenny “The Jet” Smith tossing some T-shirts into the crowd…for some reason this really does get people excited…this was followed by a number of performances…up first was Mr. Smith’s daughter, Kayla Brianna…
Some other stuff, maybe some more T-Shirts…then we were privileged to hear from Vinny Guadagnino of Jersey Shore fame…
Things got really crazy when Moondog, Crunch and friends surfed the crowd…
Flo Rida bedazzled the crowd with his high-octane performance…I don’t know why I feel it necessary to point out that I am not a fan, but there it is…I will say, the crowd loved it, and it was energetic.
Couple of interviews…then Pentatonix (Season 3 champions from the Sing-Off) blessed us with their presence…I thought it was a lot of bit silly, but they’ve obviously worked hard and deserve their shine time…no hate.
Things started to pick up as Gym Class Heroes (joined by Neon Hitch) took the stage…they were much more entertaining, and kept the crowd involved…
And then there was “Tunechi“…now Weezy was only suppose to make an appearance for a brief interview…but what happens when you hand him a mic? Chaos…Weezy gave an impromptu performance, and had the crowd in a frenzy…they eventually had to cut his mic, because the game was to start and he was showing no signs of slowing down.
Wayne, sporting his new clothing line, TRUKFIT had a custom T made for the All-Star game…
I made a few more at the game…maybe later.

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I go gelati every time…and as you can see, I’m not shy about trying new flavors…oh, and they’re open until 11pm on Friday and Saturday, so there’s that too…
